Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd (CML) has joined the long tradition of Cambridge (England) based companies that create new global markets and change entire industries through a combination of invention, ingenuity and tenacity.
Our mission is to enable precision actuators, wherever they are used, to be cheaper, smaller, lighter, lower energy or just plain better. To date we have invented and developed five separate actuator technology platforms involving over 160 individual patent filings. Nine corporations, all with global reach, have licensed our technology and are actively marketing their products to both consumers and businesses. We have many more licensing deals in negotiation and other new product ideas at various stages of maturity.
Five years ago we invented the single-box surround sound system using phased actuator arrays to form, direct and focus sound beams. Initially our technology was only used in the very highest-end and most expensive loudspeakers, but we have continually reduced the cost of our solution to the point it that is now being integrated into high volume Flat Panel Televisions.
We have invented the smallest and lightest precision actuators in the world using Shape Memory Alloy wire. This allows mobile phone camera integrators to manufacture even smaller devices while at the same time providing auto-focus and increased resolution. A smaller auto-focus actuator allows a bigger camera lens, which means more light and therefore a much better picture!
