Silicon Technical Manager

Cambridge Mechatronics Limited (CML) is a multi-disciplinary developing camera module solutions utilising our cutting-edge shape memory alloy (SMA) technology. Our technology is shipping in top tier flagship smartphones, as well as inside drones, wearable devices and other consumer devices.

We have approximately 400 granted and pending patents based around our platform technology which allows the control, positioning and movement of smart materials with high precision. CML’s SMA wire is thinner than the width of a human hair and can be positioned with the accuracy of the wavelength of light. CML is the only company in the world to master and control these materials with such exceptional accuracy.

About you

Working closely with the Operations Director and the Commercial Silicon Manager you will be responsible for CML’s silicon chip development projects, delivery best-in-class ICs to technical, quality, time and cost targets.

You will be organised with good attention to detail, have solid experience in the silicon design and manufacturing processes, be self-motivated and proactive with a positive and “can do” outlook.

Main responsibilities

  • Project management of the CML silicon development activities

  • Technical management of the chip designs

  • Manage CML’s chip development partners and deliveries

  • Manage and coordinate CML’s technical teams and resources to support the developments. This will also incorporate delivery of all associated documentation i.e. datasheets, quality docs etc

  • Help drive and determine CML’s future chip roadmap

  • Create regular reports on chip developments

  • Occasional overseas travel may be required

Key Experience and Competencies

  • Previous experience as a silicon technical manager is essential, especially design & delivery for mixed signal ASIC designs.

  • Significant technical experience in silicon development through to mass production is required. Understanding of the full silicon design and fab process.

  • Experience working with domestic silicon design houses and world-wide fabless companies (ideally Asia based) is desirable.

  • Experience of high volume chip designs, NPI and through to MP and volume production.

  • Experience with test and validation processes.

  • Experience of design/development review processes and acceptance processes.

  • Background experience in Electronics

  • Understanding of embedded firmware requirements, in combination with custom AISC solutions.

  • Project management experience

  • Works proactively to assist colleagues and spot areas for improvement

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office essential

  • Able to prioritise workload and ensure tasks are completed on time
