Cambridge Mechatronics Limited (CML) is a multi-disciplinary engineering company developing camera module solutions utilising our cutting-edge shape memory alloy (SMA) technology. Our technology is shipping in top tier flagship smartphones, as well as inside drones, wearable devices and other consumer devices.
We have approximately 400 granted and pending patents based around our platform technology which allows the control, positioning and movement of smart materials with high precision. CML’s SMA wire is thinner than the width of a human hair and can be positioned with the accuracy of the wavelength of light. CML is the only company in the world to master and control these materials with such exceptional accuracy.

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious Business Development Manager who will develop and support CML’s global sales process to meet and exceed sales targets, ensure the smooth running and reporting of the sales effort, and make a significant impact on key financial goals.
We are looking for someone who is passionate, interested and interesting. You will need to be able to play a significant role in a highly skilled team, prioritising activities, balancing long and short-term objectives and finding innovative ways to meet and exceed corporate targets. The role involves travel to Asia and America to support the development of our client relationships and to maximise opportunities for the licensing and adoption of our technology.
Work with regional sales teams worldwide, primarily in Asia and the US, to develop and support the sales process to achieve and exceed sales targets
Ensure that dynamic and high quality sales presentations are kept up to date with the latest technology advancements and market developments
Setting up and joining meetings to help sell to customers
Help maximise business opportunities with both new and existing customers
Develop good relationships globally to maximise opportunities for both licensing and adoption opportunities
Organise and report the company sales pipeline
Reporting and collating information for internal management reviews
Ensure a good understanding of the industry ecosystem and maintain a strong network
Maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
Essential skills and experience
A degree in a relevant engineering, science or business discipline
At least 5 years’ experience in a technical sales environment
Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for high technology products
Good understanding of project, risk management and customer management
Desirable skills and experience
Ability to create and deliver high quality market and technical sales presentations
A clear communicator with excellent customer facing skills
Exhibit gravitas and able to influence partners and customers to achieve successful outcomes
Robust & resilient character
Have a positive and ‘can do’ attitude
Able to travel to America or Asia on a frequent basis
Able to demonstrate you are a strong team player, and can effectively interact and work with our technical teams. Strong analytical skills and a passion for technology are also expected.
Experience of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with the ability to assimilate information and requests from multiple sources is essential.
