Digital Sound Projector™ TechnologyCambridge Mechatronics
Digital Sound Projector™ technology based on phased actuator arrays, provides a unique and cost effective ability to create and accurately control beams of sound. Consumers around the globe watch and listen with greater intensity to home theatre systems such as the Yamaha YSP range and the Loewe Individual Sound Projector because of the quality of the surround sound developed using Cambridge Mechatronics' solution.
As the technology has progressed Cirrus Logic, Texas Instruments and Trident Microsystems have implemented
DSP on multiple audio Digital Signal Processing solutions, enabling TV, PC and games console manufacturers to offer real 5.1 surround sound from a single, low cost, loudspeaker panel. The latest products to be launched are Flat Panel TVs with integrated
DSP technology. These are available worldwide from Mitsubishi, Grundig and Beko.
Other applications include commercial cinemas, PC loudspeakers, digital signage and directional PA systems.
The
DSP technology makes surround-sound easy to install and reconfigure, so users can experience the true cinema experience at home.

The
DSP technology uses a single slim panel that connects directly to a DVD or CD player. By producing tight, focussed beams of sound, the
DSP based software and hardware sends the separate sound channels around the listener's room. By reflecting off walls and other surfaces in the room, the consumer is wrapped in a blanked of sound, with each nuance of noise replicated as the film's director shot it.
The illustration demonstrates how our
DSP technology builds the sound from the single loudspeaker panel into 5.1 surround sound.
Installation and set-up are simple: once the single unit is in place, the products based on the
DSP technology can be 'tuned' to the acoustic conditions of your room using a simple remote control handset.
Change the layout of your room, or move your favourite chair and the system can be easily adjusted. No need to rearrange bulky loudspeakers, cables, wiring and any obscuring furniture.
