Non-Executive Chairman: Dr Martin Knight
Currently Chief Operating Officer of Imperial College, London, Martin is also Chairman of Imperial College Innovations, responsible for 56 spin-out companies set up to exploit Imperial College's intellectual property. Martin was formerly a Director at Morgan Grenfell.
Chief Executive Officer: Simon Calder
Simon has a degree in electronic engineering from Edinburgh University and has spent a career adding significant value to businesses. Most recently, as CEO, he scaled and successfully exited SpiraTech, an early stage, UK based and VC-funded, software business. He also has an excellent sales and marketing pedigree, having grown annual sales from $0 to $150m while based in Sunnyvale, California as a Product Line Director at MMC Networks. Applied Micro Circuits Corp, a NASDAQ 100 Company, later acquired MMC for $4.5 billion, at the time, the second largest amount ever paid for a semiconductor company. Prior to Simon's time at MMC, he held various sales and marketing management positions at the Milpitas, California, Fortune 500 Company LSI Logic, negotiating and closing several $100M+ deals.
General Manager Asia: Shinichi Makino
Makino-san held a number of senior executive positions over 32 years at Toshiba including Chief Technology Executive of the Visual and Electronic Equipment Group. At Toshiba, he was responsible for developing High Definition TV as well as many other products including digital cameras and loudspeakers.
Makino-san has been working with Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd since February 2002 as General Manager of Japanese Operations in Tokyo developing commercial relationships with Licensees, customers and manufacturing partners.
Founder & Chief Scientific Officer: Dr Anthony Hooley
CML's founder is a Cavendish Laboratory physics PhD and ex-IBM Research Fellow at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge. Tony has 35 years' experience in electronics, digital and software design. He has managed companies both as technical and managing director, in Cambridge and in Australia. He has worked on the research and development of CML's Digital Sound Projector and actuators since the beginning of 1995 when he filed CML's first patent.
Chief Financial Officer and Commerical Director: Andy Osmant
Andy is a Chartered Accountant and former Group Controller for SGB Group Plc. At SGB he managed the group's financial control function for businesses generating £300 million of turnover and located in over 20 countries, and was also a member of the company's general management team. He worked with Deloitte & Touche in Cambridge and Sydney for eight years. He was a director in the Technology Advisory Group in Sydney and had a client portfolio including Vodafone Australia, Brother and Kenwood Electronics.
Chief Technical Officer: Richard Topliss
Richard is a Chartered Mechanical engineer. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cambridge University, and an MBA from Imperial College. Prior to joining CML he worked as a consultant for Scientific Generics. He designed and managed the development of the automated manufacturing equipment now used to mass-produce the CML's low energy Piezo ceramic actuator. Richard manages CML's R & D team and has responsibility for bringing products into production, which includes managing and developing relationships with licensees and partners.
Director, Marketing and Technology Transfer - Imaging Products - Dominic Webber
Dominic is a chartered engineer with an honours degree in mechanical engineering from Warwick University. Previously Dominic worked as a senior consultant for Scientific Generics, managing innovative development programs. Typically for high volume, low cost consumer products; including imaging systems. He has also worked for Fujifilm Electronic Imaging designing scanning systems for high-end reprographic equipment. Dominic is the named inventor on a number of published patents for commercially successful, novel imaging products.
